ACOWE Technical Symposium
As part of the Gippsland New Energy Conference, The Australian Centre for Offshore Wind Energy (ACOWE) will be holding the inaugural 2025 ACOWE Technical Symposium: Enabling Offshore Wind in Australia at Federation University’s Churchill Campus on Thursday 11th September 2025.
The Symposium will bring together key international, national and local researchers and stakeholders to share knowledge, provide networking opportunities and collaborate across a range of disciplines related to offshore wind challenges and opportunities in Australia.
The inaugural Symposium this September will include multiple keynotes and technical presentations across 4 themes: Marine Environment, Logistics, Offshore Geotech, Metocean and Hydrodynamics.
We hope the symposium will facilitate cross-sector dialogue and innovation to support offshore wind initiatives across Australia’s declared zones and beyond and provide researchers, industry and government an opportunity to hear from researchers and industry on current projects in offshore wind being conducted around in Australia.
In collaboration with the Gippsland New Energy Conference, ACOWE is excited to bring this new opportunity to connect with and explore offshore wind research in the Gippsland region.
As host partner, Federation University look forward to welcoming attendees to the inaugural ACOWE Technical Symposium at our Churchill campus this September.
A welcome reception and networking opportunity will be held for attendees at the Morwell Innovation Centre on the evening of Wednesday 10th September.
Who is ACOWE?
For those of you who may not be familiar with ACOWE yet, the Australian Centre for Offshore Wind Energy a joint initiative of Australian universities delivering research, teaching, and training. ACOWE members include University of Melbourne, Deakin University, University of Newcastle, University of Western Australia, University of Wollongong and Federation University.
ACOWE’s vision is to actively contribute towards ensuring offshore wind energy development in Australia is conducted in the most socially and culturally appropriate way possible.
Since launching in 2024 ACOWE has undertaken research with industry and government to address the key challenges unique to the Australian build of offshore wind farms.
ACOWE believe that it is critical to act as an independent and trusted voice not just to industry and Government but also to the local communities in which many of us are located.
As tertiary teaching institutions, ACOWE seeks to collaborate with industry partners and TAFE institutions to develop the workforce pipeline, both re-skilling of current energy sector participants, and training the next generation of engineers, electricians, marine biologists and the many other trades and skill sets necessary to construct, and maintain, infrastructure offshore and onshore.
