The Gippsland New Energy Conference 2025 (GNEC25) Officially Launched
An enthusiastic crowd of GNEC25 partners gathered at the Gippsland Performing Arts Centre in Traralgon on the 2nd of July to officially launch the Gippsland New Energy Conference 2025, Gippsland’s leading energy transition event.

Now in its fourth year, GNEC25 will again shine a spotlight on the major opportunities emerging across the region’s new energy sector. Supported by 35 sponsors and aiming to draw around 1000 delegates from Gippsland, Victoria, Australia and overseas, this event continues to connect people and place to help shape our new energy future.
“Gippsland is fast becoming one of Australia’s most important energy regions — and this year’s GNEC conference demonstrates the strength of new opportunities coming to the region. Whether it’s in offshore wind, energy storage, electrification, or sustainable agriculture, Gippsland is at the forefront of building the new economy,” Darren McCubbin, CEO Gippsland Climate Change Network.
The main conference will run on Tuesday the 9th and Wednesday the 10th of September in Traralgon. There will also be a New Energy Jobs Youth Summit in Korumburra and a Technical Symposium at Federation University on Thursday September 11th. Presented by the Australian Centre for Offshore Wind Energy (ACOWE), it will showcase the latest research from local and international experts, ensuring Gippsland remains a key player in offshore wind development.
“This year’s event comes at a critical time. The transition to new energy is no longer a distant goal – it’s happening now. And with more than $40 billion in planned investments across our region, we know we must continue to lead with purpose”, Wellington Shire’s Deputy Mayor, Cindy Madeley.
This will be the second year that GNEC will be hosted by the Latrobe City Council, a community with a long history of energy generation and by having these conferences, they and the rest of Gippsland will continue to be the energy capital of the Nation as a clean, renewable driven, net zero leader for a modern world.

The conference also forms part of the international program for this year’s APAC Wind Energy Summit, with international delegates expected to visit Gippsland — Australia’s first declared offshore wind zone — before attending the Melbourne event the following week.
