It’s been a big week for offshore wind in Gippsland with the Victorian Government announcing the commencement of the auction process and our Gippsland Offshore Wind Parliamentary Showcase on the 26 August 2026 the night of the Auction announcement.

The showcase brought together representatives from business, community, education, the Gunaikurnai Land and Water Aboriginal Corporation, offshore wind proponents and government agencies. Attendees reflected a strong cross-section of regional leadership, united by a shared focus on the opportunities offshore wind can deliver for Gippsland.

Gippsland Offshore Wind Alliance (GOWA) shared its recently released Gippsland Offshore Wind Sector Plan, and the GOWA Presentation which outlines the potential benefits of offshore wind for the region, including new energy generation, jobs, training pathways and broader regional investment.

Special thank you to Minister for Energy and Resources, Hon Jaclyn Symes, Tom McIntosh, David Davis and Danny O’Brien and your parliamentary colleagues for joining us.

From ports and power generation, transmission and technical skills, Gippsland has significant existing strengths to build upon and we can’t wait to showcase the opportunities that offshore wind can bring to Gippsland including new energy generation, jobs, and broader regional investment.

Congratulations also to former Minister Lily D’Ambrosio MP and the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action team for your work in setting in motion the pathway for offshore wind in Gippsland.

Thanks also to our regional leaders and advocates from across Gippsland who continue to join forces and highlight the opportunities for investing in Gippsland.
